Working out is something that can be very enjoyable. But the thought of starting to workout can be scary because there are so many exercises and plans that you can use. Some of the exercises also have weird and intimidating names. Like what in the world are Bulgarian split-squats? Or hammer curls?

I didn’t start working out regularly until I got to college. I was nervous because I had never really done any of the movements before, and I didn’t want to look ridiculous. Thankfully, I had a coach who showed me what to do and helped me achieve the correct form. I got better at it and became much more comfortable with it. He gave me a love for working out that I never thought I would have. It is so encouraging and inspiring for me to look at the amount of progress I have been able to make over a relatively short amount of time.

I want to help other people, particularly college students like me, discover the love for working out that I was able to find. If you are someone who is afraid to start working out because you aren’t sure what to do, you’re in luck! I talked to Matt Brunet, a certified strength and conditioning specialist, and he was able to give me a great home workout to share with you all. This workout can be done anywhere from your dorm room to the sidewalk. It consists of 16 exercises in the form of a circuit, which means that you do each exercise back to back. To start with, try to do each exercise for 30 seconds. After you have gotten to where you can do an exercise for 30 seconds, increase the time that you do it by 5 seconds until you have worked all the way up to 90 seconds.

Now that you have that information here are the exercises and a few pictures to serve as examples:

1. Step-ups

2. Supermans

3. Pushups
